Multi-Projector System — Specifications

The EasyBlend solution consists of calibration software, video player software, and a graphical user interface.

Calibration software automatically:

• Provides soft edge blending to allow seamless tiling of images from multiple projectors
• Adjusts for image warping on flat, spherical, cylindrical, and arbitrary surfaces
• Ensures uniformity by matching intensity across an image generated from multiple projectors
• Corrects color across an image
• Scales content to fit screen size
• Detects screen frame automatically or via manual specifications
• Compensates for projector lamp brightness and color degradation, ensuring color temperature and uniformity are maintained over time
• Works with available external warping hardware
• Often eliminates the need for separate blending equipment
• Can be set to stack projectors to achieve very high brightness

Video player software:

• Supports playback of compressed WMV, AVI, and MPEG2
• Supports playback of uncompressed files with Iridas’ FrameCycler™
• Supports playback from either a composite or S-video, DVI, or HD-SDI input
• Eliminates the need for a hardware player in many applications
• Interfaces with an Extron or similar show controller over the network for easy use by untrained staff

Graphical user interface:

• Allows untrained technicians to operate the system

Calibration camera
Autocalibration of geometry, color, and intensity of arrays uses feedback from a WebCam or digital SLR camera.

Computer
The autocalibration software provides edge blending, image warping, intensity matching, and color balancing based on camera feedback. A single high-performance PC with an off-the-shelf graphics card is all that is required.

Projector
Every installed projector adds its intensity and resolution to the entire display:

• Requires use of approved projectors for color calibration
• Is projector-technology agnostic: works with LCD, LCOS, DLP, etc.
• Can program up to 4 projectors with a single computer; more than 4 projectors require additional networked computers
• Easily achieves high resolution in excess of 20 megapixels and brightness of over 100,000 lumens with multiple lower-resolution projectors
• SDT does not provide projectors with the system unless requested
