Scalable Display’s Calibration Solution, EasyBlend™, Compatible with MIPS image processors

Scalable Display Technologies, a leading provider of software for multi-projection display systems, and projectiondesign™, a Norwegian designer and manufacturer of high-performance projectors and support systems, today announced the integration of Scalable’s calibration software with the MIPS blend and warp image processing engine series. The integration guarantees seamless compatibility between the companies’ products.

The market for high-resolution, multi-projector, edge-blended displays is now mainstream and projectiondesign has responded to the customer need for a flexible and easy-to-use warp and blend solution. The addition of Scalable’s camera-based, auto-calibration software, EasyBlend™, gives customers the ease of a single button calibration process.

Scalable’s EasyBlend software offers the greatest level of geometric precision in the industry, making it the ideal auto-calibration technology for dome applications, such as high-precision training applications. Using a patented camera-generated feedback system to calculate pixel-perfect instructions, or warp meshes, EasyBlend automatically calibrates the display and completes the task of aligning multiple projector display systems within seconds to achieve the highest quality, multi-projector edge-blended images with rich and precise color.

The MIPS WB2560 and WB1920 are high-end blend and warp image processing engines suited for a whole range of applications including simulation, entertainment, scientific visualization, and medical imaging markets. With no latency, ultra high-quality blend and warp, patented Black Level Matching, and Pixel Level Matching for color correction, every pixel is the same color and brightness for absolutely uniform images. The MIPS also supports active 3D stereo compatibility up to 1920×1200 at 120 Hz.

“projectiondesign is a leading supplier to the military simulation market and the MIPS is a welcomed addition to its high-end line of products,” said Andrew Jamison, CEO of Scalable Display Technologies. “Having the MIPS in the pixel pipeline allows our customers to have the flexibility to choose any Image Generator (IG). Moreover, the MIPS preserves all the dynamic range of the color space thereby delivering the highest quality picture. Our integration partners have installed projectiondesign projectors on many projects and it has been a pleasure working directly with them on this integration.”

“Scalable is recognized as the leader in high-precision auto-calibration for military and commercial multi-projector displays,” said Jorn Eriksen, president of projectiondesign. “We are pleased that Scalable took the leadership role and put forth the effort to integrate its software with our hardware. Customers will now enjoy the benefits of our high quality warping and blending with the ease of use enabled by Scalable’s camera-based solution.”

Customers can purchase the products directly from the respective companies or through their authorized resellers.
