Attracts Top Engineering Talent to Enhance Software Offerings, Support Growing Customer Base

Scalable Display Technologies, a leading provider of software for multi-projector display systems, today announced it is increasing staff at its Cambridge, Mass., headquarters to better support its growing customer base and to continue to expand and enhance its software offerings.

The company’s most recent hire, Tyler Johnson, is a Ph.D from the University of North Carolina, who brings to Scalable a strong research background focused on calibration techniques for projection-based displays. Tyler’s work at UNC perfectly complements Scalable’s core technology of creating displays composed of multiple projectors, where the imagery of the different devices is aligned automatically to create a single, uniform display that also compensates for the shape of complex display surfaces.

Scalable’s workforce expansion comes on the heels of a year of record sales for the company, in which leading integrators serving the military, training, and business visualization markets placed volume orders for its software. Scalable also announced today that another UNC alumnus and noted MIT media lab researcher, Ramesh Raskar, has joined the company’s technical advisory.

Scalable Display’s enabling technology, a patented software called EasyBlend™, simplifies and automates the creation of seamless, ultra high-resolution displays. EasyBlend allows users to automatically align, edge-blend and color-match multi-projector displays on screens of any size or geometry, with just a few clicks of a mouse.

“Scalable has fueled the demand for high-resolution, multi-projector displays in the simulation and business visualization markets. Our auto-calibration software brings immersive multi-projector displays to a wider spectrum of the market by making them easier and less expensive to build. The net result is an expanding market that is serviced by our strong network of integrators around the world,” said Andrew Jamison, CEO of Scalable Display. “We are pleased to be able to support our growth by attracting talent of the caliber of Tyler Johnson and others who have recently joined our team.”
