Expanding Intellectual Property in Multi-Projector Edge Blending Technology
Industry leader expands its protection around multi-projector displays
Scalable Display Technologies, the leading provider of software for multi-projector display systems, today announced the issuance of two new patents by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Scalable continues to invest heavily in research and development that results in patentable inventions. This investment is particularly noteworthy as demand for immersive, projection based, virtual reality displays expands proportional to head mounted VR devices.
U.S. Patent No. 8,994,757 relates to display optimization by setting parameters in a projector. The patented technology allows for maximizing the dynamic range of a multi-projector display system. One benefit experienced by the customer due to the patent technology is improved depth of color and brightness.
U.S. Patent No. 8,817,111 relates to auto-calibration of a display system using a graphics card without changing the resolution of the display system. One benefit of the patented technology to the customer is a smooth integration of the calibration software into the display system. In the absence of the patented approach, transitions during a calibration process are objectionable to users who experience unstructured flashing and shifting of the display.
“Scalable is well positioned in the immersive display market,” said Andrew W. Jamison CEO of Scalable Display. Over the past ten (10) years Scalable has developed a mature software platform for creating multi-projector displays and has established a worldwide distribution channel including multiple OEM relationships. Customers include Armed Forces for military simulation applications, planetariums, Global 500 accounts and academic institutions.
