Scalable expansionScalable Display Technologies, an industry-leading application provider who automatically calibrates the color, intensity and geometry of images from multiple projectors, announces a strengthened presence in Asia-Pacific to provide additional support to customers and manufacturers throughout the region. The new Shanghai office, led by Zui Tao, chief representative of China for Scalable, continues to drive new business with industry-leading manufacturers to support simulation, amusement and attractions among professional AV.

Over the past three years, Scalable Display Technologies has expanded its business in China through regular partnerships with industry manufacturers. The Shanghai-based facility provides another opportunity for Scalable to partner with manufacturers and provide an increased level of support for customers throughout the Asia-Pacific region. Since 2018, Scalable’s business in Asia-Pacific has increased 50% year over year, proving the importance of the region’s business-development opportunities. Scalable’s main focus in Asia-Pacific, thus far, has been centered around amusement attractions. Scalable has supported more than 35 permanent installations in the region, most of which are amusement or theme-park attractions.

“Scalable’s technical advantage is pixel accuracy and quick calibration,” said Tao. “We have been working on many exciting collaborations, including attending the China Higher Education Expo with Epson, to showcase our technical advantage. We are also working with three different manufacturers attending InfoComm China to showcase our projection mapping and edge-blending technology within their booths.”

Founded in 2004, Scalable is a global company whose main office is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with additional offices in Shanghai and Sileby, U.K. Scalable’s proprietary technology was developed in the 1990s at MIT by Dr. Rajeev Surati and Dr. Tom Knight. The company has acquired 12 patents relating to edge blending, warping and color-calibration technology. Today, the technology is utilized by partners and customers in a wide range of markets, including simulation, training, professional AV and visualization.
