Zenith Systems selected Scalable Display Manager to calibrate multi-projector displays across six curved and irregularly shaped galleries at the Faith & Liberty Discovery Center in Philadelphia — enabling seamless, automatically maintained visuals for one of Independence Mall's most ambitious immersive attractions.
Faith and Liberty Discovery Center is an immersive, digitally driven museum that explores the relationship between faith and liberty throughout American history — illuminating the influence of the Bible at key historical and personal moments. The $60 million, 40,000-square-foot museum, owned by the American Bible Society, is among the latest developments in the decades-long transformation of Independence Mall in Philadelphia. Across two floors and six galleries, guests explore films, artifacts, immersive media, and interactive experiences while learning about leaders who drew on faith, liberty, justice, hope, unity, and love throughout American history.
Zenith Systems, an Ohio-based systems integrator with decades of experience in design-build electrical and technological contracting, was selected to engineer and integrate the audiovisual technology throughout the center.
"Faith and Liberty Discovery Center is centered around digital storytelling to create an immersive experience," said Douglas Fortney, CTS-D, Chief Technology Officer for Zenith Systems. "Guests can explore interactive galleries, learn about the influence of scripture on noteworthy Americans, and take a journey of discovery guided by an illuminated hand-held lamp that activates galleries throughout the attraction. Faith and Liberty Discovery Center features several individual galleries that are tied together to create an engaging and detailed story."
The galleries presented significant technical challenges. Curved, round, and irregularly shaped spaces — each designed to reinforce the themed content within — required precise, seamless projection across surfaces that no off-the-shelf solution could handle manually. The galleries for Welcome, Faith, Hope, and Unity each required a unique solution to accommodate different degrees of curved projection. One gallery features 120-degree curved projection, while another required 360-degree projection across both the wall and the floor.
"The galleries are curved, round, and obscurely shaped to create a unique, themed experience for each exhibit," Fortney explained. "This complex, multi-surface projection design required a solution specifically engineered for curved display environments."
Zenith Systems integrated Scalable Display Manager to handle warp, edge blending, and automatic calibration across the installation. Scalable's camera-based approach enabled precise alignment on every curved surface without manual adjustment, and established a foundation for ongoing automated recalibration to maintain display quality throughout the museum's operational life.
"Scalable provided the solution and the expertise needed to make these galleries work," said Fortney. "The combination of curved surfaces, multi-projector setups, and the need for long-term reliability made Scalable the clear choice. Their software handled every geometry we threw at it."
Our team has deployed Scalable technology in environments like this on every continent. Let's talk about your project.
