Scalable Display Technologies Debuts Software Version 9.0 at I/ITSEC 2022

Scalable Display Technologies announces version 9.0 at I/ITSEC 2022 — introducing Unreal Engine 5.1 compatibility through MPCDI profiles and direct nDisplay export, full Westar Warper 4K integration, a new LED integration for fixed control points, SDK improvements including OpenGL core profile and Data-Only mode for DirectX12 and Vulkan, and a new blending algorithm for complex screen geometries.

Technology

Scalable Display Technologies announces version 9.0 of its multi-projector calibration software suite, featuring new third-party integrations, improved calibration functionality, and expanded SDK capabilities. Scalable debuted version 9.0 at I/ITSEC 2022 in Orlando, Florida, November 28–December 2, 2022 — the world's largest modeling, simulation, and training event.

The 9.0 update is available across ScalableDesktop, Scalable Panel Assembly, and Scalable Display Manager.

What's New in Version 9.0

Unreal Engine 5.1 Compatibility Version 9.0 introduces compatibility with Unreal Engine 5.1 through enhanced MPCDI profiles and direct nDisplay export. This enables simulation and visualization customers running Unreal Engine to integrate Scalable calibration data natively into their rendering pipeline — without intermediate conversion steps.

New Blending Algorithm for Complex Screen Geometries A new blending algorithm in 9.0 optimizes system resolution on complex screens with predetermined frustum. This addresses a common challenge in simulation environments where screen geometry is fixed and the blending must work within tight constraints without sacrificing resolution.

Westar Warper 4K — Full Integration 9.0 delivers full integration of the Westar Warper 4K, supporting the latest collimated screen panel with color calibration, brightness matching, and black level uplift. This extends the 8.0 Westar support into a complete, production-ready integration.

New LED Integration for Fixed Control Points A new LED integration introduces fixed control points decoupled from the projectors and cameras, enabling rapid recalibration regardless of projector drift or projector replacements. This is particularly valuable in long-running installations where individual projectors are swapped over time but the display must remain calibrated without a full recalibration pass.

SDK Improvements Version 9.0 brings meaningful improvements to Scalable's Software Development Kit, adding support for the OpenGL core profile plus a new Data-Only mode for DirectX12, Vulkan, and other specialized graphics APIs. These additions extend Scalable's integration capabilities to a broader range of rendering engines and custom pipelines.

"I/ITSEC is the world's largest modeling, simulation and training event — it's one of Scalable's most prominent events of the year," said James Pietsch, Director of Global Accounts for Scalable Display Technologies. "We are excited to unveil new features, including streamlined calibration functionality and third-party integrations, during I/ITSEC. We will also demonstrate the latest software release with our partner Electric Picture Display Systems. The interactive demonstration will feature a live calibration with 3x Norxe true-4K projectors fed by the Aechelon Nucleus image generator — plus a sneak preview of some exciting future development we're actively working on."
